چکیده
The potential of machine learning (ML) tools for enhancing geotechnical analysis has been recognized by several researchers. However, obtaining a sufficiently large digital dataset is major technical challenge. This paper investigates the use transfer learning, powerful ML technique, used overcoming size limitations. study examines two scenarios where applied to tunnel support analysis. first scenario transferring knowledge between ground formation that well-studied new with very limited data. second intended investigate whether possible from relies on simplified more complex and realistic process involves training an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) adding extra layer model. added then trained smaller datasets fine-tune demonstrates effectiveness both scenarios. On this basis, it argued that, further development refinement, could become valuable tool ML-related applications.

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF TUNNEL SUPPORT LINING USING MCBO ALGORITHM
In this paper, a systematic approach is presented for optimal design of tunnel support lining using two-dimensional finite element analysis models of soil-structure interaction developed in ABAQUS software and the Modified Colliding Bodies Optimization (MCBO) algorithm implemented in MATLAB environment. This approach is then employed to study the influence of variable geometrical and geo-mechan...

متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Feature Design for Transfer Learning
Discriminative learning methods for classification perform well when training and test data are drawn from the same distribution and labeled using the same function. However, often we have labeled data for a task related to the target task but not for the target task itself. Under what conditions does a good classifier for the related task transfer to the target task? Feature representations th...
متن کاملTechnology tools to support learning design: Implications derived from an investigation of university teachers' design practices
The need to improve the quality of higher education has fostered an interest in technology tools to support effective design for teaching and learning. Over the past decade this interest has led to the development of tools to support the creation of online learning experiences, specifications to underpin design systems, and repositories to share examples. Despite this significant activity, ther...
